Works on Paper – A LinkedIn Series on Practical Legal Questions
We recently launched “Works on Paper,” a new series on our LinkedIn page where we explore interesting legal questions and real-life cases from the traditional world of law. The series focuses on situations that appear straightforward at first glance but often raise more complex legal issues in practice.
The first post begins with a statement we hear surprisingly often:
“The notice was sent to me as a private individual. So I can ignore it.”
It’s easy to see why people think this way. When a letter arrives addressed to your personal name, the natural assumption is that it belongs in the “personal” pile.
In reality, many legal situations sit somewhere between private and business matters. When that line becomes blurred, people often react too late—not because they intended to ignore something important, but because they misunderstood what they were looking at.
Through our Works on Paper series, we take a closer look at these types of cases and highlight the legal considerations behind them.
